Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine for Fertility, Pregnancy, Hormonal, & Emotional Wellness
Shelbi’s Approach
Chinese medicine teaches us to look beyond individual symptoms to the patterns that connect them. I believe the body remembers how to heal, and good medicine creates the conditions for it to do so. My treatments are gentle, focused and individualized, with an emphasis on the simplest treatment that can do the job.
Treating Through Change
-
FERTILITY
In classical Chinese medicine, infertility was sometimes described simply as “wanting children.” I care for people trying to conceive naturally and those navigating IVF, using gentle acupuncture and individualized herbal medicine to support the whole person—not just a fertility diagnosis.
-
PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION
Gentle acupuncture can offer meaningful support through the changing needs and discomforts of pregnancy. With nearly twenty years caring for pregnant patients—and a background as a childbirth educator and doula—I offer experienced, hands-on care from the earliest weeks through preparation for birth.
-
POSTPARTUM
The weeks and months after birth are a time of enormous physical and emotional change. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can support recovery, replenishment and the many adjustments of early parenthood—with care focused not only on the new baby, but on you.
-
MENSTRUAL & HORMONAL HEALTH
Painful or heavy periods, irregular cycles, PMS, PMDD, endometriosis and PMOS/PCOS can each reflect a different underlying pattern. I use acupuncture and individualized herbal medicine to understand what your body is showing me and treat accordingly.
-
PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE
Perimenopause isn't a single moment but a series of changes as the body enters a new developmental stage. I use acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine to support the places where that adaptation becomes difficult.
-
EMOTIONAL WELLNESS
Chinese medicine recognizes that emotional and physical health continually influence one another. I use acupuncture to support people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, fear, worry and periods of emotional overwhelm—particularly when it feels difficult to move through what you're feeling and find your way back to yourself.
It’s All Connected
I don't treat symptoms in isolation. Your history, pulse, and abdominal diagnosis tell me one connected story, and I treat what that story is showing me. Come in for fertility, and we'll likely talk about your sleep too. Come in for menopause, and your achy knees or shoulders might come up. One visit can hold more than one concern, because in this system, they were never separate to begin with.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is a core part of my practice, and works alongside acupuncture or on its own. As with acupuncture, I start by identifying the pattern your body is showing me — using your history, pulse, and abdominal diagnosis to choose a formula that matches what I find. As that pattern shifts, the formula does too.
I mainly prescribe Classical Pearls, a line of concentrated classical Chinese herbal formulas. I trust their sourcing, processing, and testing. When a Japanese Kampo-style formula is the better fit for what I'm treating, I use that instead.
I use capsules and granules rather than raw-herb decoctions. They're concentrated and far easier to take consistently.
The goal, as with acupuncture, is the simplest, most precise treatment for the person in front of me.

About Shelbi
I've been practicing Chinese medicine for nearly twenty years, with particular depth in fertility, pregnancy, postpartum care and hormonal health through perimenopause and menopause.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of caring for people through many of the reproductive and hormonal transitions of their lives—from trying to conceive and navigating IVF, through pregnancy and postpartum, and later through the changes of perimenopause and menopause.
I have extensive experience working alongside assisted reproductive care and understand the medications, procedures and emotional uncertainties that can accompany IVF. My background in pregnancy and birth also includes doula work, prenatal massage and training in childbirth education. Together, these experiences have given me a practical understanding of the modern medical landscape my patients may be navigating alongside Chinese medicine—and allow room for informed conversations about care, options and questions along the way.
My practice continues to be shaped by ongoing study of acupuncture and classical Chinese herbal medicine, as well as nearly two decades of listening to and learning from the people I treat.
My goal is simple: for you to feel well cared for and to leave treatment calmer, more nourished and a little more like yourself.
