Responsive Acupuncture for Pain, Stress, Chronic Conditions, Oncology Support, & Facial Rejuvenation

Maria's Approach

My approach is rooted in a highly interactive style of Japanese acupuncture that uses targeted needling and palpation to guide treatment. Together, we pay attention to how your body responds in real time, allowing that feedback to shape what comes next. It’s an individualized approach grounded in respect for what your body is communicating.

Treating Complexity.

  • PAIN

Pain rarely exists in isolation. Whether you're recovering from an injury or living with persistent discomfort, treatment focuses on understanding the patterns contributing to your pain while helping restore comfort, movement, and function. Learn More.

  • STRESS

Stress affects far more than how we feel. It can influence sleep, digestion, pain, energy, and overall well-being. Gentle, individualized acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system and restore a greater sense of balance and resilience. Learn More.

  • CHRONIC HEALTH CONDITIONS

Complex health concerns often involve more than a single symptom. By looking at how seemingly unrelated complaints connect, acupuncture can address the underlying patterns that influence your overall health and support lasting improvement. Learn More.

  • ONCOLOGY SUPPORT

Cancer treatment affects every person differently. With years of experience in integrative oncology, Maria provides thoughtful acupuncture care to help manage treatment-related side effects, support recovery, and improve quality of life alongside your medical care. Learn More.

  • FACIAL REJUVENATION

Facial rejuvenation acupuncture offers a gentle, natural way to support healthy, vibrant skin and overall well-being. The goal isn't to change your face or erase the signs of aging, but to ease tension, encourage healthy circulation, and bring out your natural vitality—helping you feel refreshed and comfortable in your own skin. More Than Pain Relief

A common misconception is that acupuncture is mainly for pain. It isn't. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are a complete medical system, capable of addressing nearly anything happening within the landscape of the body — physical, hormonal, digestive, emotional. Pain is simply one of the more visible entry points.

After more than two decades in practice, I've treated the full range of what a body can present with. If you're not sure whether what you're experiencing is "the kind of thing" acupuncture treats, it's worth asking.

About Maria

I’ve been practicing acupuncture since 2003, treating patients of all ages with concerns ranging from everyday pain, stress, and sleep difficulties to chronic and complex health conditions. I practice Japanese acupuncture, with a gentle, highly individualized approach shaped by more than two decades of clinical experience.

My background includes extensive work in hospital-based integrative medicine. For twelve years, I served as the founding director of Whole Women, Whole Health at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center, and later helped launch Community Acupuncture Chicago, expanding access to acupuncture for underserved patients. I hold a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine, am licensed in Illinois and nationally certified by the NCCAOM, and have specialized training in oncology, immunology, and women’s health, including Advanced Oncology Acupuncture certification through Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Throughout my career, I’ve been particularly interested in the intersection between our physical and emotional health. Living with pain or chronic illness can profoundly affect how we feel, just as prolonged stress or emotional depletion can influence our physical well-being. I don’t see these as separate experiences. Good medicine pays attention to both—and to the whole person behind the symptoms.

Functional Mushrooms.

Madre Mushroom

My interest in functional mushrooms grew out of my work in Chinese medicine, where I’ve incorporated medicinal mushrooms into patient care for many years. Inspired by their long history in traditional medicine and their potential to support everyday wellness, I founded Madre Mushroom—a line of functional mushroom coffees and lattes designed to make these remarkable fungi an easy part of a daily ritual.
